How to grow annual climbers?
The ultimate in warp-speed gardening, annual climbers shoot up fences and walls like rockets. They pop out with brilliantly-coloured flowers you'll adore all summer long. They're easy to grow from seed – choose from the wide selection in our garden centre in Trowbridge - Wiltshire – and let you create a new display every year. The negative side of the annual climber is a positive thing: because annual climbers only grow for one year, you have to plant annual climbers every year again. So, you can switch colours every year. And planting annual climbers keeps you busy in the garden. And being in the fresh air is decisive for your health, so annual climbers are right for your health. We wish everything was this simple. Each annual climber is even more colourful than the other.
Our favourite annuals

Spanish flag (Ipomoea lobata): a brilliantly tropical-looking relative of morning glory, but with pennants of tubular flowers in flaming shades from red through orange to yellow. This fellow is native to Mexico and Brazil and grows exotic to 5m (16 ft) tall.
Sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus): the easiest of all the annual climbers, sows pretty, fragrant sweet peas direct at the foot of a wigwam or in pots. The Sweet pea overwinters in October for earlier flowers next season. There are two types of sweet pea. Annuals last for one season and everlasting perennial varieties return year after year but are much less fragrant.
Purple bell vine (Rhodochiton atrosanguineus): heart-shaped green leaves covered with large deep red-purple flowers all summer and sometimes last in autumn. During Spring you will behold fresh shoots that will bloom all summer!
Black-eyed Susan (Thunbergia alata): masses of simple, open flowers in all sorts of colours from brick red to bright orange, all with a perky black eye. Susan can not miss in a dazzling summer garden. Find your favourite Susan colour at Trowbridge garden centre.
Cup and saucer vine (Cobaea scandens): large inky purple flowers like bells with a frill of green behind are held on stems long enough to cut for flower arranging. These annuals are not the most easy-to-grow but are definitely worth the wait. Long and warm days, not too much watering and a lot of love makes the plant flower amazing.
